Welcome in, Bridgette! 7 year old Bridgette (DOB 6/30/2015) comes to us as an owner surrender after her owner moved into an assisted living facility and no other family was able to take her in.
Unfortunately Bridgette arrived extremely matted and had to be shaved upon intake as a result. But her new coat will grow in beautifully, and if anyone can pull off this haircut in the meantime, itโ€™s this little doll! As you can tell, Bridgette is also quite overweight and we will be getting those extra pounds off her in foster care.
She underwent her intake vetting today and we are awaiting all her labwork results. Once they are in we will be sure to post a full medical update. Bridgette is being fostered in Atlanta, Georgia ๐Ÿ’œ

UPDATE NOVEMBER 9, 2022: A few days ago we introduced you to sweet 7 year old Bridgette (DOB 6/30/2015) who had just come into our care after her owner moved into an assisted living facility and no other family members were able to take her in. Bridgette arrived very overweight and heavily matted and had to be shaved upon intake as no fur was salvageable. Shes so much more comfortable with the heavy matting removed and will be even more so once we get all her extra weight off.
Bridgette has also now underwent her full intake vetting. She came to us already up to date on vaccinations and spayed but she received a thorough physical exam, full labwork, and a microchip. Thankfully her fecal test, heartworm, and tick borne illness test were negative, and all of her bloodwork was normal. Her urinalysis did reveal a bad urinary tract infection which she is now being treated for. This is likely a result of her weight and filthy matted fur. She weighed in at 27.4 pounds and should be about 20 pounds.
While her eyes, knees, and hips are clear, an audible heart murmur was detected, due to mitral valve disease (MVD), and so today she will receive an echocardiogram so we can learn more about her heart and whether or not she can benefit from starting heart medications. Then of course once she completes antibiotics for her UTI, we will be rechecking her urine to ensure that has cleared.
Stay tuned for more pupdates on this darling girl who is being fostered in Atlanta, Georgia ๐Ÿ’œ

UPDATE NOVEMBER 23, 2022: 7 year old Bridgette came into our care with a urinary tract infection which has been treated and yesterday a new urine sample was sent off to see if the infection has been cleared - we are awaiting those results. She also arrived with an audible heart murmur due to mitral valve disease (MVD) so she underwent an echocardiogram so we could learn more ๐Ÿฉบ Good news - there is just very mild left side remodeling due to her insufficient mitral valve. To help slow down any further progression, she has started on a daily heart medication (Pimobendan).
Sweet Bridgette has made herself right at home and is doing very well in her foster home in Atlanta, Georgia where we continue to work on her weight loss ๐Ÿ’œ
