Atlanta, Georgia

Welcome, baby Freya πŸ’• 12 week old Freya was recently diagnosed with a very serious and severe heart condition while in the care of another rescue organization located in Indiana. Unable to provide Freya with the life saving heart surgery she needs, we extended an offer to help which was accepted πŸ’œ
Yesterday Freya made the trek from Indiana to Alabama with the help of our wonderful transport volunteers 🚘 and this afternoon she is undergoing her intake vetting here in Birmingham, Alabama where we will get a referral sent over to the University of Georgia to schedule her for heart surgery.
Freya has severe pulmonic valve stenosis - the same heart condition as Molly who just underwent surgery 3 weeks ago. While Molly’s stenosis was categorized as severe, Freya’s pressure is even higher 🚨 We hope to get her in for surgery in the next few weeks and will be sure to keep you posted πŸ’œ

*Freya is not available for adoption and will not be for quite some time so please refrain from contacting us with your interest as this time.

OCTOBER 28, 2021:Baby FreBaby Freya was able to be discharged today from University of Georgia where she underwent heart surgery yesterday. She’s now back home resting and recovering πŸ’œ Freya underwent a successful balloon valvuloplasty heart procedure to repair her severe pulmonic valve stenosis. Her pressure going into surgery was a very severe, dangerous, and high 155 and is now down to a mild and safe 36 πŸ‘πŸΌ, even with post operative inflammation. The procedure was performed through a catheter inserted into the right jugular vein in her neck so she will be kept β€œquiet” until the small neck incision heals and then it’s back to normal puppy activity and antics πŸ’•She will return to see her cardiologist in 3 months for another pressure recheck.
We are thrilled to be able to give Freya a happy, healthy, normal life made pawsible with your support and donations 🐾 and the amazing skilled cardiac team at UGA β€οΈπŸ–€ Thank you πŸ™πŸ»
