Meet Lola - she is the third (and last) Cavalier rescued out of the terrible hoarding situation that Lenni and Lolli came from as well. We were told Lola is 5 years old and she came to us completely shaved to the skin. She arrived flea infested, and with scabs and cuts so we can only assume she was shaved due to severe matting. Lola is little nugget weighing 13 pounds.
Like the other girls, Lola was also suffering with bad ear infections and a urinary tract infection which she is now being treated for. A loud heart murmur was also detected at her intake vetting so off she went to see our cardiologist for a full cardiac evaluation and echocardiogram. The results showed that the loudness of her murmur is not indicative of the severity of her heart disease and that while she does indeed have an insufficient mitral valve and tricuspid valve that there are only mild changes to the heart’s structure. To help slow down progression of the mitral valve disease, we have started her on a daily heart medication that she will need to be on for life.
With the good news about her heart, Lola was cleared for her spay and dental which she underwent on Wednesday. She is in her foster home in Birmingham, Alabama resting and recovering 💕
