Over the weekend we rescued 6.5 year old Winnie (DOB 9/17/2014) off the auction block and out of the puppy mill industry. She has since undergone her intake vetting where she was fully assessed. No surprise here that Winnie’s medical needs have been neglected and that she has been suffering with untreated infections. We are now treating her for ear infections (bottom photo), dental disease, a urinary tract infection, hookworms and corneal edema.
Her labwork cleared her for surgery so yesterday she underwent her much needed spay and dental where she lost a handful of bad teeth that she won’t miss a bit. She has made her way to her foster home in Peachtree Corners, Georgia where she is resting and recovering 💕 She will return to the vet in a couple weeks to ensure she is all healed from surgery and that all her infections have cleared. We will be sure to keep you posted as she gets all settled in and we begin to learn more about her - she’s already shown us that she is super sweet and loving and seems to already know that she’s in good hands 💜

UPDTATE FEBRUARY 23, 2021: We recently rescued sweet 6 year old Winnie and handsome 7 year old Ruger off the auction block and out of the puppy mill industry. 2 weeks ago they underwent their intake vetting and surgeries and yesterday they returned to the vet to check on their healing and ensure their infections were improving.

Both have healed well from their spay and neuters and dentals. Their severe ear infections have much improved although cytology still shows some yeast so both of their ears are being retreated to kick the rest to the curb. Ruger’s urine abnormalities from intake have now completely resolved while Winnie’s urinary tract infection was so bad that she is requiring a second round of antibiotics. The anemia that she had on intake is resolving.

Winnie will need to return to the vet in 2 weeks to recheck urine again and ensure the UTI has completely cleared. Ruger will not need any additional vetting unless something comes up. Both are doing fantastic in their foster homes - Winnie in Peachtree City, Georgia, and Ruger in Canton, Georgia where they are learning and loving living in a home environment and being a part of a family - how quickly their little lives have changed! 💜
