Meet Harley 🩵
Harley is one of the nine Cavaliers we rescued off the auction block and out of the puppy mill industry. While we would otherwise say that we intercepted him from a life of breeding, the truth is that Harley wouldn’t have made it that far. This tiny boy was already very sick, and without the medical intervention he’s now receiving, his outcome would have been devastating 💔
At just 3.5 months old (DOB 1/19/2026) and only 4.5 pounds, Harley immediately stood out to our team at auction. His rattling breathing and overall fragility and puniness made it clear that he needed our help—and we weren’t going to leave him behind without it. Baby Harley has since been diagnosed with pneumonia and giardia and has started aggressive antibiotic treatment. The good news - we are already seeing signs of improvement and this little fighter is seemingly responding well to his care plan.
Harley is being fostered in Harvest, Alabama, and he will return to the vet in 10 days for a recheck of his lungs and bloodwork to ensure his white blood cell count is trending in the right direction. For now, we’re focusing on helping Harley heal so he can get on with living his best puppy life! 🐾
UPDATE MAY 12, 2026: Sweet baby Harley (who will turn 4 months old next week) was the sickest of our auction dogs, having developed pneumonia by the time we rescued him out of the puppy mill industry. We immediately started him on aggressive treatment, and we’re so happy to share that this little guy has responded so well to his care and is making wonderful progress! At Harley’s recheck appointment yesterday, he has already gained a full pound and his ear infections are now clear. Even more encouraging — his lungs, which sounded crackly, now sound normal, and his breathing which sounded rattly, now sounds clear and healthy 🙌🏼We have sent out a recheck CBC to ensure his white blood cell count, which was elevated on intake due to infection and illness, is back down - or at least moving in the right direction. And we also submitted a fecal sample to recheck for giardia after he has now completed his treatment for it. We are currently awaiting these results and will report back once they return. In the meantime, his foster family in Harvest, Alabama reports that he seemingly feels great and is now able to enjoy being a typical playful pup - music to our ears! 🎶💕
