Last year, handsome 11 year old Palmer arrived into our care with advanced heart disease which we have been monitoring and managing with our wonderful cardiologist, Dr. Straeter at Animal Cardiology/Animal Rehab and Fitness in Birmingham, Alabama 🩺 Palmer returned for recheck echocardiogram this week and unfortunately got news that his heart disease has continued to progress despite best efforts and he is now in left sided heart failure. Two additional heart medications have been started and added to the three he is already on in effort to prevent fluid buildup ❤️‍🩹 With this news, we have decided to welcome Palmer into our hospice program where he will continue to live in his foster home with his foster family and remain under our care so we can continue to meet his needs, for forever 💜 Palmer never thought that his foster home wasn’t his furever home or that he wasn’t a furever member of the family so nothing has changed for this adorable, goofy, loveable guy 💕
