UPDATE APRIL 4, 2026: Last week we introduced you to darling 3 year old Remy (DOB 10/9/2022) who came into our care as an owner surrender after his elderly owner could no longer care for him. Remy comes to us already up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped, but visited with our vet for his full intake vetting which included a thorough physical exam and full labwork. Remy is a handsome tricolor boy who is typical in size and at his ideal weight of 19 pounds. All of his labwork including his fecal test, heartworm and tick borne illness test, urinalysis, and bloodwork came back normal and negative. As a young adult, Remy is still congenitally sound with clear eyes, knees, hips, and heart. We noticed right off the bat that Remy was suffering with allergy symptoms and started him on a daily antihistamine, topical care, and made a food change. However, because his allergies had not been well managed, he developed a secondary bacterial skin infection, ear infections, and eye inflammation. He is now on an oral antibiotic to treat his skin, ear medication to clear his ear infections, and eye medication to reduce inflammation. We can already tell that he is so much more comfortable and less itchy and inflamed πŸ™ŒπŸΌ He will return to the vet in 2 weeks to ensure his infections have cleared. Remy is being fostered in Houston, Texas where his foster family reports that he is a very sweet boy whose playful side is starting to emerge πŸ’œand while that journey comes with its challenges, with thoughtful adjustments to his medications, he is currently stable, comfortable, and able to celebrate this incredible milestone with us πŸ’œ
