Welcome in, Tallulah! Tallulah is a 9 year old sweetheart who finds herself in need of a new home after the heartbreaking loss of her owner. A family member lovingly took her in and has cared for her over the past couple of months, but the busy, energetic household isnโ€™t the right fit for a girl who prefers peace, quiet, and a slower pace of life.Lula is settling into her foster home in Marietta, Georgia and when the time comes, we will be sure to give her a perfect match home and family ๐Ÿ’• She will undergo her intake vetting tomorrow and we will have a medical update to share soon ๐Ÿ’œ
UPDATE MARCH 26, 2026: We recently introduced you to precious 9 year old Tallulah (DOB 8/2/2016), who we welcomed into rescue after the passing of her owner.Weโ€™ve since learned that this sweet girl is a certified therapy dog. She still loves to proudly wear her personalized harness identifying her as such ๐Ÿ’•Tallulah came to us already up to date on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. She visited our veterinarian earlier this week for a thorough physical exam and labwork. Her fecal test, heartworm test, and tick-borne disease test were all negative, and her bloodwork was within normal limits. However, her urinalysis did reveal the presence of bacteria, and she is now being treated with antibiotics for a urinary tract infection. Her physical exam also identified a few areas weโ€™ll be addressing to help her feel her very best:Eyes - Her tear test showed mildly decreased tear production, so we are starting her on a lubricating eye gel to not only keep her eyes comfortable, but also to help prevent dryness related complications.Ears - She has an overgrowth of bacteria in both ears and is now receiving antibiotic ear drops to clear the infection. Heart - As is common in senior Cavaliers, Tallulah has a significant audible heart murmur, likely due to mitral valve disease (MVD). She is scheduled for an echocardiogram on 4/1, which will allow us to properly assess and stage her heart disease and determine whether cardiac medications are needed at this time.Knees - She has some age related changes in her knees and so we are starting her on a daily joint supplement to support her mobility and aging joints. Although the biggest help will be getting the extra weight off her joints. Tallulah is quite overweight at 28 pounds - as her ideal weight should be about 20 pounds. Helping her lose this excess weight will be an important part of her care plan. She is settling beautifully into her foster home in Marietta, Georgia, and we look forward to sharing another update following her echocardiogram next week ๐Ÿ’œ
