Welcome in, Ginger! 8 year old Ginger (DOB 12/29/2014) was recently rehomed to a family and found to not be a good match due to chasing the cats in the home. They decided to reach out and release her to rescue so that a perfect placement would be found for her. First though, she will undergo her full intake vetting which is scheduled for tomorrow. We will post a medical update when we have one. In the meantime, sheβs getting settled into her foster home in Houston, Texas π
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 27, 2023: We recently welcomed 8 year old Ginger (DOB 12/29/2014) into our care and she has since undergone her full intake vetting. 20 pound Ginger came to us already up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and had a recent dental, but we did a thorough physical exam and ran off full labwork. Her exam revealed just some normal aging changes starting to occur as well as a significant heart murmur which is to be expected for an older adult Cavalier due to mitral valve disease (MVD). She is scheduled for a cardiac consultation and baseline echocardiogram with a cardiologist on 10/18 so we can learn more about her MVD and determine if starting heart medications is warranted at this time. While her bloodwork was normal and heartworm and tick borne illness test negative, her fecal test was positive for hookworms so she is receiving deworming treatment. Additionally, her urinalysis revealed a bad urinary tract infection and so she is on antibiotics to clear that. Her urine and fecal will be rechecked next week. Sweet Ginger is being fostered in Houston, Texas where sheβs made herself right at home π‘π We will be sure to keep you updated after her recheck βοΈ
UPDATE OCTOBER 9, 2023: Monday morning vibes as Ginger in Houston, Texas helps with school drop off βοΈπ She is fantastic with her gentle human foster siblings π
