MEET KOBE 🐶
1 year, 11 month old Kobe (DOB 10/16/2024) came to us in July as an owner surrender due to no fault of his own. His family was experiencing unexpected life changes and they felt they could no longer give him the life he deserved. He quickly showed us what a sweet, spirited, snuggly, and social boy he is! Kobe is now ready to find a family who will appreciate his affectionate, playful personality and, most importantly, can give him the companionship and togetherness he so deeply craves.

MEDICAL 🩺
Precious Kobe is a healthy young boy who received a clean bill of health in our care! He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and on monthly preventatives. His eyes, knees, hips, and heart are clear and congenitally sound at this time, and his all of his labwork including his fecal test, heartworm and tick borne illness test, urinalysis, and bloodwork is all normal and negative. He is not on any medication and does not require any additional vetting outside of regular wellness checks at this time.

FOOD & POTTY HABITS 🥘
Kobe is a beautiful blenheim boy with gorgeous rich red markings. He is typical in size and at his ideal weight of 20 pounds. Like most Cavaliers, he loves his mealtime and always licks his bowl clean. He eats his breakfast around 7am, treats at lunchtime, and dinner around 6pm. He eats alongside his Cavalier foster siblings with no issue, but supervision at mealtime is needed to ensure everyone stays at their own bowl. Kobe's family should be committed to continuing his portioned meals, healthy treats, and daily exercise and activity to ensure he remains at his ideal weight, best self, and best health.

Kobe came into rescue having not received potty training, but is catching on and doing well in his foster home as long as he is provided plenty of opportunities outside to be successful. He is taken out first thing in the morning, last thing at night, and every couple of hours in between, including right after his meals. He is taken outside to potty in the fenced yard and since he loves to be outside, he is happy to go out when let out for pottying. While Kobe is doing wonderfully with his potty training in his foster home, having only had occasional accidents, it is important that his new family remain committed to continuing a consistent potty routine, and that they understand that accidents are to be expected, especially initially while he adjusts to a new environment and routine.

PERSONALITY 💕
Kobe's foster family describes him as a happy, joyful, playful, confident, outgoing, and friendly boy with a zest for life and an adventurous spirit! He has never met a stranger and thinks everyone is his best friend! He is happiest being with people and would thrive best in a family where he can be with his people, and around other people, much of the time - whether that means coming with you to work, joining in on daily activities and outings, or getting out and about for walks and adventures. Because he is a young boy, he is still energetic and playful, but is also incredibly sweet and affectionate. He needs to be provided plenty of opportunities for activity and to expend his energy which he loves to do by playing fetch, chasing toys, going for walks, exploring outdoors, and especially hunting for squirrels in the yard! But when playtime is over, Kobe is more than happy to settle down with his person for sweet cuddles and close companionship. He loves watching television, especially animal shows, and is perfectly content to curl up with his human while they relax. Kobe is also an exceptionally smart, attentive, clever boy. He is easily trainable, a good listener, and seems to understand what his people are saying to him.

ROUTINE ⏰
Kobe's day begins around 6am with a trip outside to potty in the fenced yard. After coming inside, he enjoys breakfast and then typically gets back into bed with his foster mom for cuddles while she drinks her coffee - Kobe enjoys this quiet morning time with his person. About an hour later, he heads outside and begins his day playing and interacting with his Cavalier foster siblings. He enjoys running and playing around the house and spending time with his canine companions. After a few hours of activity, Kobe either goes to work with his foster mom or settles into his xpen at home while she is away. His xpen is set up in the family room where he has plenty of space and comforts, can see the other dogs, and the television is left on for him. While he may bark when he is initially left, he settles quietly down into his blankets when his person leaves and does fine for short periods of time left alone. That said, Kobe certainly is happiest and does best when he has people around and has an intense desire to be with his human. Because of this, we are seeking a family where someone is able to be with him much of the day, where he will have plenty of human companionship, and where he will have low lone time. Kobe is an affectionate companion who wants to be involved in his person's life, and his new family should expect him to want to be right alongside them.

After dinner, Kobe settles in for the evening with his person. He loves to play fetch, cuddle, and simply spend quality time together. At bedtime, he starts the night sleeping in the big bed with the other dogs, but will sometimes move into his bedside open crate during the night. We are seeking a family who will continue to invite him into the big bed to join them for sleep and snuggles. He would not do well being asked to sleep apart from his people. Pet steps should be provided up to the bed so he can safely get on and off.

SOCIALIZATION 💜
Kobe is an exceptionally friendly and confident boy. He loves meeting and interacting with new people and thinks everyone is there to give him love and attention! He is also wonderful with children and would do well with gentle, well behaved children with dog experience who know to respect his space and boundaries and keep their things safely out of his reach. He would also be happy in an active adult only home where he would receive plenty of attention and affection.

Kobe enjoys canine companionship and would be happy to have a furry furiend closer to his own age and energy level who will actually engage in play with him. His current canine foster siblings are older, and while Kobe desperately wants to play with them, they are no longer interested in playing at his level. Kobe will bark at them and chase them in an effort to get them to join him, while they would rather run away and hide. Because of this, we are seeking to match Kobe with a younger, playful Cavalier, or other dog of similar temperament, who will appreciate his enthusiasm and engage in play and activity with him. He is not a good match for a senior dog or otherwise an older adult dog who does not want to be bothered. That said, we also feel that Kobe could be happy as an only dog in the right home, provided his person is with him most all of the day and can give him the companionship, attention, playtime, and interaction he desperately wants and needs. His need for human companionship is stronger than his need for canine companionship. We were told by his former family that he also does well with dog friendly cats.

Kobe is excellent on a leash and walks beautifully. He enjoys long walks and can comfortably walk 2–3 miles. This is wonderful for his need to expend energy and also for his socialization when he is able to meet and interact with people while out and about. Because he is a well behaved boy, he is easy to take out in public and he will be happy to tag along and enjoy an outing together. We are seeking a family who will make his walks and outings a part of his daily routine and will invite him along to accompany them whenever possible in their daily activities and errands. He is a wonderful traveling companion and always ready to go! He loves riding in the car and rides safely and comfortably in his boosted car seat which we will ask that his family provide for him.

IDEAL HOME & FAMILY 🏡
Most importantly, Kobe needs a loving, committed family who can meet his need for human companionship and shower him with so much time, love, and attention. Therefore, we are seeking a family where someone will be with him much of the day and where he will have low alone time. Kobe would be happy in a home with playful canine companions around his own age and energy level who will enjoy running, wrestling, chasing, and playing with him. He would also be happy as an only dog if his human is able to meet his considerable need for companionship and interaction.

A safe and secure fenced yard is required as Kobe absolutely loves his outdoor freedom - being outdoors, running around, exploring, and hunting for squirrels, and a fenced yard will allow him to be able to continue to safely enjoy these activities. Kobe's family should also understand that he is a playful, energetic, young adult who needs appropriate outlets for his energy. He loves fetch and could play all day long. Because he is an enthusiastic chewer, he needs safe chew toys, should only be given toys for supervised fetching and play, and toys should never be left unattended in his xpen. Kobe is wonderfully adaptable and would love a family who will include him in their daily life and activities and make him a beloved member of the family. He would happily come along to work, go for walks, ride in the car, watch TV, explore the yard, or simply curl up beside his person. He loves traveling in the car and is happiest when he gets to be included and be part of the action. Kobe needs a family who will appreciate his playful spirit, outgoing nature, and his absolute devotion to being with his people. He is the kind of dog who seems to think everyone is his friend, and he wants nothing more than to be included in the life of his family.
