MEET STRYKER & LOUIE, a bonded pair of boys being fostered in Statesville, North Carolina ๐ They recently came into our care after their owner suddenly and unexpectedly passed away and family members were not able to take them in. Stryker (ruby) is 5 years old (DOB 5/20/2018) and Louie (black/tan) is 9 years old (DOB 11/11/2013). They both underwent their full intake vetting and we are happy to share that they received overall great reports ๐ We brought them up to date on vaccinations, sent off labwork, and they received a thorough physical exam. We found both boys to be healthy and congenitally sound with clear eyes, knees, hips, and hearts! We only detected some yeast in Louieโs ears which we are treating him for. Otherwise, they checked out great! Their fecal tests were negative, heartworm tests were negative, bloodwork was normal, and we are still awaiting the results of their urinalysis. Louieโs tick borne illness test was negative while Stryker tested positive for Lyme. The specific test ran does not differentiate between exposure/vaccination and active infection so we have sent off an additional test to learn more. He does not have any indicators of an active infection on his bloodwork or clinically so we are not expecting that he will need treatment for this. Louie is already neutered, while Stryker is not, and so Stryker will soon undergo his neuter surgery along with a dental cleaning and microchip. These handsome boys are typical in size at 16 pounds and 19 pounds and are your typical sweet, loving Cavaliers who are thriving with all the love and attention they are getting in their foster home ๐
