MEET SOPHIE ๐ Sweet Sophie is a precious 5 year old girl (DOB 4/12/2018) who comes to as a breeder release. Like Sadie, she is also obese weighing in at 30 pounds when she should be about 18 pounds. This is negatively affecting her quality of life and we have started her on a weight loss plan which includes strictly portioned meals of weight management food, limited healthy treats, and daily activity. We look forward to getting her much more comfortable and to a weight where she can truly live her very best life!
At intake vetting, we found Sophieโs eyes, hips, heart, and right knee to be clear and congenitally sound at this time, while she does have a left luxating patella (unstable knee) that doesnโt seem to be giving her any trouble but certainly needs all the extra weight off it. Her fecal test and heartworm and tick borne illness test was negative, while her urinalysis revealed a urinary tract infection and bloodwork indicated infection as well. She has started on antibiotics to treat it and we will recheck her urine and CBC when theyโre completed.
She underwent her spay surgery and a cyst on her neck was also found and aspirated and we await those results. Sophie is such a sweetheart who looks at you with such adoring eyes and soaks up all the love and attention she can get. She is being fostered in St. Simons Island, Georgia whereโs sheโs recovering well from her surgery ๐
