Hospice Angel
While we certainly never hope for it to happen, we have a clause in our Adoption Agreement about our dogs coming back into our care should something change with their family situation. It’s there because things do change… it’s there to protect our babies and ensure they are never in limbo and without a home, family, love, and care… it’s there because we are committed to ALWAYS being there for them.
Tinsley needed us in 2018 when she was found stray in absolutely horrific shape and required a knee surgery before she was happily adopted. And unfortunately, at now 14 years old, she needs us again after her owner recently passed away. While other family members attempted to care for her, they were unable to meet her needs and felt she would do best back in our care.
At her fragile and tender age, adoption is not in her best interest and instead she will remain in our care, designated under our hospice program, due to age. This means she will live with her furever foster family in Birmingham, Alabama, and we will continue to provide for her care and meet her every need. Welcome back, and welcome home, Tinsley 🏡💜
OCTOBER 15, 2023: Not trying to spook you 👻 but did you know that Christmas is just 10 weeks away?! 😳 Tinsley will be holiday ready since red ❤️ is her color, don’t you think?! 😍
NOVEMBER 6, 2023: Tinsley wants to help you step into the week on the right paw 🐾 So remember, every situation in life is temporary. So when life is good, make sure you enjoy and receive it fully. And when life is not so good, remember that it will not last forever and better days are on the way. Make it a great Monday, furiends 💕

DECEMBER 2023: Our precious Tinsley is fourteen, fabulous, and festive ❤️ Her furever foster family is making the most of their first holiday season together - every day together at this age is truly a gift 🎁
DECEMBER 24, 2023: All is calm 💤, all is bright ✨ Including Tinsley ❤️ Merry Christmas Eve, furiends 🎄
JANUARY 11, 2023: Vet appointments are better with a furiend 💕🐾14 year old Tinsley (tri) has received some devastating news that it is looking like she has lung cancer. She experienced a quick onset of labored breathing, noncardiogenic pulmonary edema, and now a suspicious area of her lungs found on imaging. She is scheduled to see a specialist next week but has only been given days to weeks and her furever foster mom reports that they are very much ‘day to day’ 💔 They have oxygen on board at home to help her and her comfort is our only focus 💕Her Cavalier foster siblings (including 14 year old Happy Go Lucky pictured with her) have rallied around her making sure she feels warm, comforted, supported, and loved. Please keep her in your thoughts and we will be sure to keep you updated on how she is doing 🙏🏻
JANUARY 15, 2023: Having at home oxygen for Tinsley (in hospice care with lung cancer) gives us so much peace of mind - not only that we can make it through an emergency or crisis, but also that we are able to help her when she needs a little relief from coughing or laboured breathing. Having oxygen therapy at home to use at any time means being able to stay out of the emergency vet so that Tinsley can stay in the comforts of home 🏡 💕Unfortunately respiratory distress is something that many Cavalier owners worry about due to breed related conditions like: ✔️ mitral valve disease / congestive heart failure ✔️ collapsing trachea or enlarged heart pushing on trachea ✔️ elongated palate / airway obstruction Because we know at home oxygen therapy can help so many Cavaliers, we wanted to share Pawprint Oxygen’s amazing products with you and they were generous enough to offer our supporters a 20% off discount code! 😍Use code CAVALIER20 at checkout now through February 10th for 20% off their products (one use per customer) 🐾 Learn more about Pawprint Oxygen here ⤵️https://pawprintoxygen.com📷 Tinsley pictured with the Pawprint small dog oxygen kit which includes 6 oxygen canisters, a regulator, tubing, and oxygen mask.*Not a sponsored post or ad, just a product that we use and love!

Rise ☀️ and shine ✨ Happy Sunday! 💜 Tinsley is enjoying a perfect morning in Birmingham, Alabama 💕 Where in the world 🌍 are you this morning?📍
UPDATE NOVEMBER 25, 2024: At 15 years old, precious Tinsley is the eldest Cavalier in our program and resides in her furever foster home in Birmingham, Alabama where she is so loved 💕 Today, she had a recheck echocardiogram with our wonderful cardiologist 🩺 to monitor her rather unusual RIGHT sided heart failure, which is very different than the typical LEFT sided heart issues that Cavaliers typically have with their mitral valve. Did you know that dogs with RIGHT sided heart failure often do not have an audible heart murmur? Tinsley does not have a murmur and actually her heart sounds perfect. The absence of a murmur can make diagnosing right sided heart disease quite difficult. Thankfully we were able to reach Tinsley’s diagnosis at the beginning of the year and she has been well monitored and managed since then. We are happy to report that she received a good report today which showed no significant progression 🙌🏼 and of course she got a pup cup on the way home🍦
