MEET TROY 🐶 7 month old Troy (DOB 1/16/2026) is one of nine Cavaliers that we recently rescued off the auction block and out of the puppy mill industry, intercepting plans for him to become a breeding dog where he would have endured a lifetime of reproductive abuse, neglect, and suffering. Instead, he now has the opportunity to live his very best puppy life, and his future will be that of a beloved, cherished companion. He has thrived in his foster home, where he has been discovering all of the joys of life outside the puppy mill, and he is now ready to find the perfect family to continue showing him just how wonderful life can be.MEDICAL 🩺 Precious Troy is now a healthy 7 month old little boy, weighing 9.2 pounds. He is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and on monthly preventatives. He came into our care suffering with intestinal parasites and a respiratory infection which have both been successfully treated and cleared. His eyes, knees, hips, and heart are clear and congenitally sound at this time. Per our adoption agreement, Troy will need to be neutered when age appropriate - by 12 months of age (January 2027).FOOD & POTTY HABITS 🥘 Troy is eating his Fromm puppy kibble twice a day, with breakfast around 7am and dinner around 6pm. He is very excited for his meals and always licks his bowl clean. Because Troy races to finish his food so that he can then help his Cavalier foster siblings finish their meals, he eats his meals in his x-pen near the other dogs. His new family will need to continue supervising him at mealtime to ensure he stays in his lane. In between meals, Troy received plenty of treats as reward for being the brilliant puppy that he is. He is very treat motivated which also makes him a wonderfully trainable little pup. He enjoys his Fromm Crunchy Os and Bocce's Bakery soft treats and this clever guy has already learned to "sit" and to go into his x-pen for a treat. We will be sending home a bag of his puppy food and his favorite treats.Baby Troy is doing wonderfully with his potty training but needs to be taken out frequently to ensure continued potty training success. He is taken out first thing in the morning, last thing at night, and every couple hours in between, and has minimal accidents in his foster home when kept on this schedule. He goes out to potty in the fenced yard alongside his canine foster siblings, and having the other dogs demonstrate that outside is where we potty has helped him tremendously. Of course, Troy is still a puppy and the great outdoors can be extremely distracting - bugs, leaves, smells, and absolutely everything else competing for his attention can sometimes make potty time feel more like playtime, but gentle positive vocal redirection helps him get back on task. His family should be prepared to give him plenty of time outside to finish his potty business after he has satisfied his curiosity about all the fascinating things in the yard, and should supervise him closely to ensure he actually goes potty before he comes back inside. His new family should expect to continue his potty training as he is a young pup and is still learning - accidents are to be expected, especially initially while he transitions and adjusts to a new environment and routine.  PERSONALITY 💕Troy has quickly stolen the hearts of everyone around him with his goofy personality, playful spirit, and incredibly affectionate nature. He is an easygoing, lovable, super playful puppy who seems to believe that life is one big adventure and he wants to be right in the middle of all of it! His foster family describes him as playful, goofy, and loving, and has a lot of personality packed into his little 9 pound body. As a young pup, he LOVES to play - he adores his toys and has become quite skilled at tug-of-war. He also loves chew toys, stuffies, wrestling, roughhousing, fetch, and just about any activity that involves being playful and having fun! This includes engaging with other playful dogs, and he has even discovered that cats can make pretty excellent wrestling partners when they are willing to participate. But for all of his puppy antics and playful energy, Troy also has an incredibly sweet and affectionate side. His foster family has affectionately nicknamed him "Loverboy Troy" because he absolutely adores his people and sweet snuggles. When the day's adventures are over, he is perfectly happy jumping onto the couch or climbing into the big bed, flipping onto his back, and soaking up all the love and attention he can get. ROUTINE ⏰ Troy's day begins first thing in the morning with a trip outside for pottying, followed by breakfast around 7am. He heads back outside after breakfast and then continues to go out approximately every couple of hours throughout the day to ensure potty training success. When his foster family is home, Troy has access to the open living space where he can play and explore while his family keeps an eye on him. He enjoys having room to zoom around, play with his toys, be with his people, interact with the other dogs, and generally supervise everything happening around the house. His days also include outdoor playtime with his foster family, the other dogs, and his human foster sister. Troy loves running around the yard, exploring, playing fetch, and romping and wrestling with his furry friends. He is happiest when he has playful companions, both two and four legged, to interact with. During short periods of time when his foster family is away from the home, Troy does wonderfully in his x-pen in the open living area. His foster siblings remain nearby, giving him companionship while he has his own safe space with his bed, appropriate toys, and more ample space than a crate allows. He settles down nicely in his pen, either quietly playing with his toys or taking a nap until his people come back home. He does well left for short periods of time but is certainly happiest being with his people and having plenty of opportunity for activity, interaction, and attention, and so we are seeking a home where he will have low alone time and plenty of quality time being with his family.Dinner is served around 6pm, after which Troy is ready for the evening portion of his day. He loves jumping up on the couch with his favorite toy to join with his foster family for couch time cuddles and winding down. After the final trip outside for pottying, Troy heads to the big bed where he sleeps alongside his foster family and his Cavalier foster sister. He sleeps well throughout the night after he has exhausted himself playing all day and recharges for another day of fun ahead of him.  He would not do well being asked to sleep apart from his people, and so we are seeking a family who will continue to invite him into the big bed with them.  Pet steps should be provided for him so he can safely get on and off the bed.SOCIALIZATION 💜Troy is an exceptionally friendly and confident puppy. He warms up to strangers quickly and happily welcomes new people into his world. He is curious about his surroundings and, rather than being frightened by unfamiliar things, he tends to investigate them. He is not shy nor timid and is not easily startled or scared. He also has gained some wonderful experience with children in his foster home as he has a human foster sister whom he loves playing and snuggling with. He would be happy and do well in a home with gentle children who have dog experience, who know how to engage with him gently and appropriately, will respect his space, and know to keep their things out of puppy reach, or in an active adult only home who has the time to devote to meeting all the needs of a playful, active puppy. Troy has done wonderfully with his furry foster siblings and loves having canine companionship. His canine foster siblings are between 6 and 12 years old, and while they all interact and socialize well together, Troy's puppy energy often exceeds their enthusiasm for play! While he is perfectly happy spending time with and snuggling with his older foster siblings, he would clearly appreciate and love a canine companion closer to his own youthful energy level. His ideal match would be another young, active, playful Cavalier or other dog of similar size and temperament who will engage in play with him, and so that is what we are seeking for him in his furever home. Troy also does well with dog friendly cats. The cat in his foster home will sometimes wrestle around with him, and Troy absolutely loves it. Troy has been introduced to leash walking and has been receptive to learning to walk and potty while on a leash. Because he is comfortable on a leash, we are not requiring a safe and secured fenced yard in his furever home. However, we can see how much he enjoys his outdoor freedom in his foster home, and so preference will be given to a perfect match family who can provide for him a safe and secured fenced yard. Please understand that if you do not have a fenced yard, Troy must be taken out on a leash everytime he is taken out and due to potty training, this is very frequently. On the other hand, if you do have a fenced yard, he needs to be supervised outside at all times as he is a curious puppy who can quickly find himself in mischief and danger. Because he is a tiny boy, fencing needs to be puppy proofed and any gapping will need to be reinforced.Troy is also an excellent car rider, riding safely and comfortably in his boosted Snoozer car seat and almost instantly falls asleep once he is settled in. He is an incredibly relaxed little passenger and would love to be able to tag along with you whenever appropriate, so we are seeking a family who will include him in their daily activities and outings. We will ask that his family provide for him a boosted car seat so he can continue doing so. IDEAL HOME & FAMILY 🏡 Most importantly, Troy needs a loving, patient committed family prepared for all the joys and challenges that come with puppyhood. His ideal home will be one that understands that puppies need plenty of interaction, supervision, enrichment, training, and opportunities for play and have the time and energy to meet these needs. Troy needs playful humans who will interact with him and include him in family life. We are seeking a family where he will have low alone time and will have plenty of quality time with his people. He loves his human foster sister and has shown us just how much he enjoys playing with gentle children. He would also love a young, playful canine companion who will happily wrestle, chase, and engage in puppy antics with him. A fenced yard is not required for Troy because he walks well on a leash. However, he absolutely loves running around outside, exploring, playing fetch, and stretching those long little legs, so a safe fenced yard would certainly be a wonderful bonus. Because he is a tiny boy, fencing needs to be puppy proofed and any gapping will need to be reinforced. In addition to a safe outdoor area for pottying and play, Troy also needs a safe and puppy-proofed home including keeping things that he shouldn't chew out of his reach and ensuring he has access to appropriate chews and toys at all times. Providing a variety of durable chew toys, enrichment puzzles, tennis balls, and interactive activities will help keep him occupied and out of trouble. Because he is a tiny pup, he will need to be protected from stairs and any railings that he may be able to squeeze through. He does not understand dangers, so his new family must be diligent to keep him safe and equipment like gates may need to be utilized to do so. Pet steps to safely climb on and off the sofa and bed should be provided to him as well as a boosted car seat so he can continue to enjoy car rides safely and comfortably. Above all, Troy needs a family who will appreciate his silly, playful nature while also embracing the incredibly sweet, affectionate boy underneath all those puppy antics. He wants to play, he wants to explore, and he wants to LOVE his people.
